There appears to be a relationship to the Pamaguimet / Metallic family based on a note in the 1841 Census record of Francois de Sale Capino and common given names used by both families.
We currently believe that Robert Pierre Jean has some relationship with the Pinawans family. Three children that appear to fit Robert's family use the Pinawans name in later records. Perhaps Robert Pinawans and Robert Pierre Jean are brothers. They both received grants of land at Durham in 1805, so they can not be the same person.
Nothing has even been found to suggest the French surname "Pineau" was used by this family. Anyone making such a claim should be asked to provide historical documentation to validate their claim before accepting such a claim.
