Medard Dauphine was probably a frenchman as there are no males with this surname on any of the tribal census lists. We have record of 5 daughters born to Medard, 4 married Abenaki men, nothing is known of the 5th. [Day]

Medard was 1st married in 1796 at St. Francois du lac, but his first wife appears to be a French woman, Marguerite Cartier. Jenton may be a dit name used by Medard.
