There are two Verrill men mentioned as having married Native women in the Verrill Genealogy published in 1968. There are many more of this surname with oral history of Indians in the family tree and with physical characteristics to suggest this Native ancestry does exist. The Verrill family often intermarries with Strout, Cobb, Thurlow, Elwell, and Edwards families of Western Maine and these families also have strong oral traditions about Native ancestry. At this time, Ne-Do-Ba has been unable to document any Native blood in any of the families mentioned. We would love to hear from anyone that might have additional information.
