This family is said to trace it's origins to Pierre Jean Wawanolewat, a famous war chief from Missisquoi. He was known by several names; Greylock, White Head, & La Tete Blanche.
Louis Napoleon Wawanolette, known as "Louis The Indian", was the son or nephew of Greylock. He was killed in action during the War of 1812. He appears to be the ancestor of all of this name at Odanak.
