Jean Baptiste Masta (John B.) attended Dartmouth College and was a doctor at Baron VT.
Ignace Masta (1821-1882), m. Therese Nagazoa. Many of his descendants remained at Odanak and several are well known basketmakers.
Peter Masta of Dartmouth College was actually Pierre Paul Osunkhirhine, a son of Catherine by her first husband.

- Other Notes: Mary Mattelock was born abt. 1793. A. Matelok appears on the Odanak roster of 1812 veterans with heirs in 1844. Ma-da-lhokw was said to be Captain of Indians for the Americans in the 1812 war (this was probably Metallic, the father of Antoine, as the tradition is that Metallic fought for the Americans while his two sons fought with the English [NL 97]).
Metallic was known in Northern NH and Western ME and died a very old man (over 100 years old) in 1846 at Stewartstown, NH.
Antoine Metallac was the father of the child named Basile baptized at Drummondville in 1831. Another son was probably Thomas.
Metallic also appears as a family name in New Brunswick's MicMac and Maliseet populations.

Pierre (b.abt.1788) m. Jeanne Ursule Ontarawarmin. They had sons Thomas b.abt 1804 & Francois b.abt 1811, who both served as chiefs. Jean b.abt.1814 is possibly another son. Pierre served and died in the War of 1812. His widow raised the French orphan Francois Robert Paquette and in 1838 she was one of the founders of the Congregational Church at Odanak.
Pierre may be Francois Pierre or Pierre Francois. We find the widow of Francois listed in 1822 with 4 minor children and Pierre's widow does not appear to be in this record, but should be.
